About Us
Houston County was established by an act of the Tennessee State Legislature on January 21, 1871. The Houston County Archives has 140 years worth of archival records and materials about Houston County and its people. The Archives contains records from the circuit court, general sessions court, and local taxes. We have also collected examples of local businesses stationary and letterhead, railroad artifacts, photographs, a manuscript collection, and a growing vertical file collection.
The archives is a place where researchers can come and find everything Houston County as well as be a place where our citizens can come and see interesting historical papers and artificats about Houston County and it's people.
