Houston County Archives

About Us

Houston County was established by an act of the Tennessee State Legislature on January 21, 1871. The Houston County Archives has 140 years worth of archival records and materials about Houston County and it's people.  The Archives will contain such records as circuit court records, general sessions court records, tax records, local businesses old stationary and letter head examples, Judge William Herman Wiseman's papers and correspondence and much, much more.

We want our archives to be a place where researchers can come and do their research on everything Houston County as well as be a place where the average citizen can come and see interesting and historical papers and artificats about Houston County and it's people. 

Our Archivist is Melissa Barker.
